Camaro & C7 Corvette HMI Replacement Guide
Performance cars like the Camaro and C7 Corvette use the same HMI modules as trucks and SUVs, but in different dashboard configurations. If your sports car’s infotainment failed, the fix is identical—new HMI module, plug-and-play.
Which Model Years Use Which HMI
6th Gen Camaro (2016-2018): HMI 2.5 with CarPlay/Android Auto
(2019+ moved to different system)
C7 Corvette (2014-2019): HMI 2.0 (2014-2015) or HMI 2.5 (2016-2019)
C8 Corvette (2020+): Does NOT use HMI. Uses completely different Global B architecture. See our CSM guide for newer platforms.
Performance Cars & HMI Failures
Camaros and Corvettes operate in high-performance environments. The Corvette’s 8″ screen is central to the driving experience—you rely on it for navigation, gear indicators, track mode data, and performance metrics. HMI failure is particularly annoying in performance cars.
Corvette drivers may also push the electrical system harder (high amperage draws for performance audio, track mode power systems). This can contribute to premature module failure.
Screen Sizes & Options
Camaro: 7″ or 8″ touchscreen options, both use same HMI 2.5 module
C7 Corvette: 8″ standard, integral to the dash layout
Installation Location (Different Than Trucks)
Camaro and Corvette HMI modules are located behind the passenger kick panel / lower dashboard area, not behind the glove box like trucks. Dashboard disassembly is slightly different but still straightforward.
See our detailed installation guide for exact location and step-by-step process. Plan 30-45 minutes.
Upgrading 2014-2015 C7 to 2.5
If your early Corvette has HMI 2.0, you can upgrade to 2.5 with CarPlay/Android Auto. Most C7s support this upgrade. Requires HMI 2.5 + compatible radio + USB hub. WAMS can help verify your specific model year compatibility.
